Some of the best ideas come from the most ordinary moments. A sleepless night. A canceled appointment. A quiet realization that something everyone accepts as normal is actually not working for anyone.

For Stephanie Cleck, that moment came in 2009. She had just had her first child, and everything she thought she knew about her career, her industry, and what women actually needed started to shift.

A Decade in Salons, and a Question She Could Not Ignore

Before Concihairge existed, Stephanie had already spent over a decade building a career as a hairstylist. She knew the industry well. She knew her clients well. And she knew, even before she became a mother herself, that the salon world had its problems.

But it was not until her daughter was born that she felt those problems personally.

Suddenly, the idea of getting to a salon felt like a project. There was a babysitter to arrange, or a nap schedule to work around. There were weekend hours that overlapped with the only family time she had. There was traffic and parking and the particular exhaustion of trying to take care of yourself when everything else in your life is demanding your attention.

She started talking to other new moms in her circle and heard the same thing again and again. Women were not skipping salon appointments because they stopped caring about their hair. They were skipping them because the logistics had become impossible.

That conversation changed everything.

The Idea That Started with a Simple Question

What if the stylist came to you?

It sounds obvious now, but in 2009 it was genuinely uncommon. Private, in-residence hair services were not a category that most women knew existed, let alone expected. The assumption was that quality hair meant going somewhere, sitting under fluorescent lights, and working your schedule around someone else’s.

Stephanie decided that assumption was worth challenging.

She saw it from both sides. As a client and a mother, she understood what it felt like to need something that the traditional salon model simply was not built to deliver. And as a stylist, she understood something else just as important: the salon industry is also deeply difficult for the women working inside it. Long hours on your feet, unpredictable income, and very little room to build a career while also building a life. Women who wanted to be great stylists and present mothers were being asked to choose, and that was its own quiet injustice.

Concihairge was her answer to both problems at once.

From the Founder

“When I first imagined Concihairge, it was honestly solving something for me. I loved being a hairstylist, but my husband traveled often and we were raising a young family. I wanted a way to keep practicing my craft, contribute financially, and still be present when my family needed me.

What started as a solution for my own season of life quickly became something much bigger. As I spent more time working in clients’ homes, I realized we were solving a real problem. Many of our clients were juggling careers, children, aging parents, and travel schedules. Traditional salon visits often felt like one more thing on an already overwhelming to-do list. Bringing professional hair services directly to them gave them back something incredibly valuable: time.

Today, I believe Concihairge serves both clients and stylists. For clients, we provide convenience and an elevated experience that fits into their lives. For stylists, we create a path to build meaningful careers with flexibility and autonomy. Many talented stylists leave the industry because salon life is simply not sustainable long-term.

What began as a way for me to continue doing work I loved has grown into a business that helps women on both sides of the chair. That is probably the part I am most proud of.”

What started as an idea born from one woman’s experience has since grown into something far bigger than Stephanie originally imagined. Concihairge has served two regions, launching in Northern Virginia in 2009 and on the Main Line in 2014, now solely focused on serving Main Line women. Over the years, we have employed over 25 stylists, created over 40 jobs, served over 8,000 clients, and conducted over 100,000 hair appointments.

As the company grew, Stephanie made a deliberate choice. She stepped back from doing hair herself so she could focus entirely on the experience, both for clients and for the stylists she leads. The same passion that once drove her behind the chair now drives how she builds her team, trains her stylists, and sets the standard for every appointment Concihairge delivers.

She is still doing exactly what she set out to do in 2009. Helping women feel beautiful. She just found a bigger way to do it.

Why a Private Hair Salon on the Main Line Changes the Experience

The traditional salon is not going anywhere. But for a lot of women, especially those in their thirties, forties, and fifties who are managing full careers, families, and everything in between, it is no longer the only option worth considering.

An appointment with a private hair salon on the Main Line is not just a convenience. It is a different kind of experience entirely. Your home. Your schedule. A stylist whose full attention is on you, not on managing a full floor of clients. The quality of color, keratin, or extensions you get from a Concihairge stylist is the same caliber you would find at a top salon. What changes is everything around it. Professional hair care that used to be reserved for celebrities is now at the reach of Main Line’s busy women.

That was Stephanie’s original insight in 2009, and it is still what makes Concihairge different today. She did not just start a business. She asked a better question about how women should be able to take care of themselves, and then she built the answer.
