If you’ve been curious about hair extensions but haven’t known where to start, you’re not alone. For a lot of women along the Main Line, it’s not a lack of interest that keeps them from taking the leap. It’s the questions. The ones you don’t always feel comfortable asking at a busy salon, between someone else’s appointment and yours.
That’s kind of the beauty of having a private stylist come to your residence. There’s no waiting room, no rushing, and no one listening in on your consultation. It’s just you and your stylist, talking through exactly what you want and what makes sense for your hair.
We asked our extensions specialist Jenna to walk us through the questions she hears most often, so you can get real answers before you ever book an appointment.
Are extensions only for women with thin hair?

Not at all. Extensions work for a wide range of hair types and goals. Some clients want to add length, others want volume, and many want both. Jenna sees clients who have thick hair but want more dimension, women going through hormonal hair changes during pregnancy, perimenopause or menopause who want to restore what they’ve lost, and everything in between. Whether genius wefts or k-tips are the better fit depends on your specific hair and lifestyle, something Jenna walks through with every client during the consultation.
What kinds of extensions does Concihairge offer?

At Concihairge, we offer two methods: genius wefts and k-tips. Genius wefts are hand-tied and lie flat against the scalp for a natural look and feel, making them a great option for women who want volume and length with minimal bulk. K-tips, or keratin-tip extensions, are applied strand by strand for a seamless blend that moves like your natural hair. During your consultation, Jenna will assess your hair and recommend which method makes the most sense for your texture, lifestyle, and goals.
How long do hair extensions last?

This varies by method, but most extensions are designed to last anywhere from six weeks to several months before they need to be moved up or repositioned as your natural hair grows. Your stylist will give you a realistic maintenance timeline during your consultation so there are no surprises.
Will extensions damage my hair?

When extensions are applied correctly and maintained properly, they should not cause damage. The key words there are “applied correctly.” This is one of the biggest reasons women along the Main Line are choosing private stylists over salon chains. With a dedicated specialist, your stylist is fully focused on your hair and how the extensions are interacting with it, from the initial installation all the way through maintenance appointments.
We Asked Jenna. Here’s What She Said.

Q: How do you know whether a client is a better fit for genius wefts versus k-tips?
“Honestly, both are great options and each one meets a different client’s needs. I’m certified in other methods too, but I only offer genius wefts and k-tips because I believe they’re the best for protecting your natural hair. It really comes down to the consultation. We do a deep dive into your goals, talk through what’s realistic, and figure out what works best for your natural hair and your everyday maintenance routine.”

Can extensions be colored to match my hair?

Yes, and this is where having a colorist and an extensions specialist working together makes a real difference. The extensions need to match your natural hair, and if you color your hair regularly, the timing between your color appointments and extension maintenance matters. Your Concihairge stylist can coordinate both services to keep everything looking seamless.
What does the appointment actually look like?

Your stylist comes to your home with everything needed for the appointment. You don’t need to do anything except have clean, dry hair and a comfortable space to sit. The consultation happens first, right there in your home, so there’s no separate trip to a salon and no guessing about what you’ll walk out with. From there, the installation appointment is scheduled, and your stylist handles every step.
Is the investment worth it?

That really depends on what you’re looking for. If you want to try extensions on a tight budget, a private stylist may not be the right fit and that’s okay. But if you want extensions done with precision and beautifully blended, by someone who knows your hair and is fully focused on your result, the value is there. Concihairge clients along the Main Line tend to be women who have tried the salon route and are ready for something more personal and more consistent.
Ready to get your questions answered in person?
The best place to start is a consultation. Your stylist will look at your hair, talk through your goals, and give you an honest recommendation before any commitment is made.
